The Carel humiSteam basic (Y) is suitable for installation in civil environments, offices, hospitals and industrial facilities. It is designed for installation both in rooms, using the steam blower, and air ducts, using the linear steam distributors. The humiSteam basic is ideal for applications where steam production is controlled by an external signal, i.e. BMS or humidistat.
Steam production is controlled in the following modes:
1. ON/OFF mode: a simple contact (for example, a humidistat) starts/stops steam production;
2. Proportional mode: the humidifier produces a quantity of steam that is directly proportional to the signal (0-10 V, 2-10 V, 0-20 mA, 4-20 mA) generated by the external controller, always between 20% and 100% of maximum capacity;
3. Proportional mode: based on the set point and a humidity probe reading.
Type "Y" humidifiers have a display with numbers and icons that shows the operating conditions and any diagnostic information extremely clearly and intuitively. In addition, they come with RS485 interface with Modbus protocol for remote configuration and control via BMS.

In normal conditions, the disposable cylinders should be replaced after one year (or 2500 hours of operation). The cylinder must undergo periodical preventive maintenance by Fortnightly visual and be replaced either when depleted (i.e., full of limescale) or when its lifetime has expired as indicated in the manual or when any anomalies occur.
Periodic Checks:
• After one hour of operation: check for any significant water leaks.
• Every 15 days or no more than 300 operating hours: check operation, the absence of significant water leaks, and the general conditions of the casing. Check that during operation there are no arcs or sparks between the electrodes.
• Every 3 months or no more than 1000 operating hours:
- disposable cylinders: check operation, the absence of significant water leaks and if necessary replace the cylinder.
• Every year or no more than 2500 operating hours:
- disposable cylinders: replace.
