Overview

CIL.BL 3~ 5-8KG CLEN.V0 MOD.B

How Steam is Generated:

Common drinking water contains a certain amount of dissolved minerals, which is conductive, applying a voltage to metal electrodes immersed in the water creates an electric current that heats the water (Joule effect) until it has reached the boiling point, thus producing steam. The quantity of steam produced is proportional to the electric current, which is proportional to the water level. The steam cylinder will fill with water until the steam output reaches the desired output level, after which the fill valve will close. As the water evaporates over time the cylinder's water level will in turn drop. If the water level falls below the desired output the fill valve will open to refill the cylinder to the requested steam output.

Maintenance:

The life of the cylinder depends on many factors:

  • Correct use and dimensioning of the humidifier, rated power, and water type.
  • Accurate and regular maintenance.
  • Saturation of lime deposit (limescale) and or in combination with partial or complete corrosion of the electrodes.
  • Because of plastic material aging and electrode use the standard disposable cylinders should be replaced after one year (or 2500 hours of operation).
  • For the cleanable or openable steam cylinders, it is required to replace it after 5 years or 10000 operating hours.

Periodic Inspections:

  • The cylinder must undergo periodic preventive maintenance by fortnightly visual inspection and be replaced either when depleted (i.e., full of lime-scale) or when its lifetime has expired as indicated in the manual or when any anomalies occur (For example, when the lime scale inside the cylinder prevents the correct flow of electric current).
  • After one hour of operation visually check to make sure there are no important water leaks.
  • Fortnightly OR no more than 300 operating hours check for general and operating condition of cylinder. Check the operation, absence of important water leaks, and the general condition of the case. Verify that during operation there are no arcs or sparks between electrodes.
  • Quarterly OR no longer than 1000 operating hours, check the operation, absence of important water leaks, and that there are no visibly blackened parts in the cover gasket.
  • For standard disposable cylinders, maximum after one year or no more than 2500 operating hours, replace the cylinder
  • For cleanable or openable cyilnders, after five years or no more than 10000 operating hours, replace the whole cylinder.

Electrode And Gasket Rebuild Kits:

  • Cleanable or Openable steam cylinders can be rebuilt up to 3 times over the course of the 5 year or 10000 hour lifespan.
  • Each cleanable cylinder has a specific corresponding electrode and gasket kit. See the related products for correct rebuild kit.
